Privacy policy
The FrameRoll app keeps your photos on your device. This page explains that, how purchases work, and the little the website collects.
Last updated
FrameRoll is built around a simple idea: your photos are yours, and they should never leave your device. This policy covers two separate things — the FrameRoll iOS app, and this marketing website at tryframeroll.com. They are treated very differently.
The FrameRoll app
The app runs on your device. It has no backend of its own, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no user accounts. The only time it uses the network is to complete or restore a purchase through Apple's App Store (see Purchases below). It never sends your photos, your projects, or any usage data anywhere.
Because the app has no accounts and collects nothing about you, there's nothing for us to store, share, or lose.
Photos
Importing photos uses Apple's system photo picker, which needs no permission at all — FrameRoll only ever sees the photos you actively select, never your whole library.
Saving your exported slides to Photos uses add-only access by default — enough to save images, not enough to read or browse your library. Turning on “Save to separate album” in Export asks for full photo library access so FrameRoll can create and manage that album; declining keeps it on add-only, and exporting still works either way. You can change this anytime in the iOS Settings app.
Photos you import are copied into the project you're working on and stay on your device. The originals in your library are never modified, moved, or deleted, and nothing you import or export is uploaded or shared.
Purchases
FrameRoll's paid features are available as a one-time lifetime unlock or as a monthly or annual subscription. All three are sold through Apple's App Store using in-app purchase.
Apple processes the payment. FrameRoll never sees or stores your card number, billing address, or Apple Account details. From Apple we receive only aggregated sales reports in App Store Connect — units, refunds, and proceeds by country — which don't identify you.
A subscription renews until you cancel it. Manage or cancel a subscription, and request a refund, from your Apple Account in the iOS Settings app — not inside FrameRoll. Restoring a purchase checks your App Store account with Apple to give back what you already bought; it sends us nothing.
Apple's handling of your purchase data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
This website
The website collects two things, and only when you choose to engage with it:
- Waitlist email address — the site no longer collects email addresses. If you joined the waitlist before launch, your address is held by Loops (loops.so), the email service we used to send launch updates. It is used only to email you about FrameRoll and is not sold or shared. You can unsubscribe from any email we send, or ask us to delete it entirely by writing to hello@tryframeroll.com.
- Anonymous usage analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Web Analytics to understand roughly how many people visit and which pages they read. These record aggregate, non-identifying data such as page views, approximate region, referrer, and device type; we do not attempt to identify individual visitors. Analytics load only after you allow them when asked, and never when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal.
Cookies and local storage
This site stores your light / dark theme choice in your browser's local storage so the page doesn't flash on reload. That value never leaves your browser.
If you allow analytics, Google Analytics sets its own cookies to measure repeat visits. You can withdraw that at any time from the “Privacy choices” link in the footer, and a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal from your browser keeps analytics off without asking.
Third parties
The website relies on a small number of service providers, each with its own privacy policy:
- Vercel — hosting and Web Analytics. See vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Loops — waitlist email delivery. See loops.so/privacy.
- Google Analytics — traffic measurement. See policies.google.com/privacy.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data a business holds about you, and to object to its processing. For this site that means the waitlist email address, if you joined before launch — the only personal data we hold.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@tryframeroll.com and we will act on your request. There is no account to log into and no charge.
Children
FrameRoll and this website are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or how we use it, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes to how we handle waitlist emails will also be sent to the address on file.
